Sny game that makes use of Steamworks network API are required to be online to play multiplayer. I know how LAN games worked in the 90s, and I still have plenty of discs to prove that silly point.ĭaemon copies aren't really a thing anymore (yeah remember those? Installing a multiplayer only copy of Warcraft and playing several people with a single disc?)

I don't know anything about it, Space? I've been a network engineer and IT supporter for a decade and counting. Within the context given it should be obvious to anyone capable of accessing an online service that I was referring to the game. I just have the Host a game option which immediately wants to create an online server with Server ID.Początkowo opublikowane przez Komotz:You said, and I quote

I am just saying don't underestimate the amount of people still using LAN connections.īut just to stay on topic, I have the same issue I cannot find LAN games hosted on the same network, not do I have an option to Host a LAN game. In case of maintenance or internet outage, that you will still be able to play. LAN parties, because the internet line is not capable of coping with the amount of users. When on the road, and staying somewhere with friends where you do not have internet access. I do agree it is not the biggest issue in the World, but there still is a lot of use for a working LAN feature

So if the LAN feature does not work not me nor my friends will ever be playing this during such an event. Stellaris as a game is a game that would easily be chosen for such purpose because it is fun to play with a lot of people, however if you are hogging the same internet line with 200 people you will easily get performance issues. And because they are with groups that are too large for a normal internet line to cope with, think numbers of at least 50 gamers up to 200 or more, that only Pure LAN games can be played.

There are these events called LAN Parties in which people want to be able to play games together.
